“This Is a Good Fit!” – Wishing a Happy Retirement to Mrs. Carol Crippen

“Developing ministers” says NBC Human Resources Director Carol Crippen, “isn’t a big enough priority in the Church.” Churches need ministers. God is still calling people into His service. How do those people get from being called to ministering?

God uses people like Carol in behind-the-scenes roles to make the mission of ɫTV possible!

Mrs. Carol Crippen already had a background in human resources when she came to NBC nearly 20 years ago. More importantly, she believed in the mission! Joining the Finance Department at the Bible College meant she would be using her talents to support those who were training new ministers. With a wide range of training and experience, Carol was able to fill roles such as staff accountant and controller before entering her current position as Director of Human Resources and Payroll. This was a good fit!

And that is just how Carol has advocated for people through many hiring processes – “This is a good fit!” Since 2019, new NBC staff members have had Carol Crippen encouraging their hires with that simple note.

“Before I was hired at NBC, the first person I spoke with was Carol,” shares Vice President for Finance Scott Laird, in a common story for NBC staff. “Her professionalism and likeable demeanor helped me know that joining the NBC team would be a positive decision.  I soon discovered on a deeper level that she was always concerned about the staff members and their needs.  She was ever the advocate, always doing her best to provide working conditions and employee benefits that were as good as they could possibly be.  Her sweet spirit and helpful attitude will be greatly missed!”

Carol’s sweet spirit and mischievous sense of humor are easily apparent in team meetings and staff gatherings. While still on campus, she was even known to join in with a laugh for a Nerf battle! That same joyful commitment shows in her detailed explanations of employee benefits, careful tracking of data, and personal connections to staff, faculty, and students.

NBC has been blessed by Carol’s dedication through two stints across a total of 17 years of service. She carefully led her Finance Team to “finish well” as they wrapped up the main staff presence on campus in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2017. Then she willingly answered the call to return to the College in 2019. This is important and sometimes delicate work, requiring intelligence and care. It has indeed been a very good fit having Carol Crippen as part of the NBC family!

Carol, congratulations on your retirement! We pray God will continue to guide and bless your life!
